Dr. Jomana Sweiss
Working Together through Turbulent Times
We will create a collaborative therapy that is honest and compassionate. Together, we will embrace your emotional, physical, spiritual, and cultural qualities.
Therapeutic Approach
Our treatment will include elements of psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, and dialectical and cognitive behavioral techniques (DBT and CBT) to customize therapy to who you are and what you want to get out of our time together.
My couples therapy style is informed by Emotion Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method. We will identify specific techniques to improve communication and conflict resolution. We’ll work to ensure each partner’s personal needs are heard and respected.
I also offer one-on-one DBT skills coaching.
Professional Journey and Qualifications
I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and am licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in California (PSY32429).
I previously worked at a drug treatment center, a community mental health agency, a private practice specializing in serving minority women with trauma histories, a Veterans Administration Hospital, and a geriatric mental health program.
Through these experiences, I have provided individual, couples, and group therapy for anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance abuse, and chronic pain.
Affirmative and Inclusive Practice
I respect and value diversity. In my various clinical positions, I have provided treatment to socioeconomically and culturally diverse individuals and couples with varying sexualities, gender identities, and mixed neurotype partnerships.
